The Rinehart Institute (RI) was founded in 1997 by Charlene Rinehart Brown with the intention to provide a variety of wellness services and products to individuals, couples, and groups. RI fosters wholeness and healing with a focus on individual awareness and facilitation of specific modalities and practices.
The Rinehart Institute draws its name from Charlene’s great grandmother, Sally Rinehart, who was an entrepreneur, wife, and mother of eight children. Sally Rinehart was a religious and spiritual woman committed to daily devotional practice.
Her philosophy of life was summed up in this poem: “Welcome unknown future: Bring me what you will. With God’s loving hand to guide me still.”
It is the ancestral energy of this strong, spiritual woman that inspires the drive and commitment to the mission and vision of the Rinehart Institute.
Charlene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Memphis, and two Master Degrees; one in Physical Education and one in Counseling coupled with a Holistic Health Care certificate from Western Michigan University.
For more than 25 years, Charlene has been counseling and educating diverse groups of individuals across the country. She applies her vast knowledge, wisdom and experience to fulfill the mission and vision of the Rinehart Institute. Currently Ms. Brown acts as an Adjunct Associate
Professor in the Holistic Health Care department at Western Michigan University in conjunction with her work at the Rinehart Institute.
Charlene lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her husband, Bob Lakey. The mission of the Rinehart Institute is to cultivate optimal health, happiness, and harmony at the individual level, which can ultimately lead to global well-being.
The Rinehart Institute’s vision is to foster wholeness and healing through awareness of the connection of the “inner” world (mind/body/spirit) and its impact on the “outer” world (people and circumstances), and then with this awareness to ultimately guide and execute choices in life that are in the best interest of all concerned (the world).
